Baseball vs. St. Peter's

Villanova defeated St. Peter's in walk-off fashion in its home opener on March 15, 2014.

On Mecca: Two-year member of the team who redshirted as a true freshman and then played his sophomore season in 2014 … Hard worker with terrific baseball instincts … Plus runner and defender who fit the mold of a typical Wildcats center fielder … Used his speed well both offensively and defensively.

2014: Played in 35 games with 19 starts … Showed a knack for getting on base and posted a .333 on-base percentage despite batting just .111 (6-for-54) … Drew 10 walks and was hit by a pitch eight times in 72 plate appearances … Had 10 runs scored, one double and 14 strikeouts … Stole three bases in four tries and had three sacrifice bunts … Went 2-for-3 with a walk and a run scored against Quinnipiac … Doubled, scored and was hit by a pitch in the last of a three-game series at Charleston Southern … Reached base safely in 12 of his 19 starts … Played terrific defense in the outfield and finished the year with 38 putouts, four assists and no errors; BIG EAST: Started three of the nine BIG EAST games he appeared in … Went 1-for-10 with two hit by pitch and two runs scored … Struck out twice, had a sacrifice bunt and stole a base in his only try … Started and was 1-for-3 with a hit by pitch and a run scored in the series opener against St. John’s.

2013: Redshirted.

Don Bosco Prep: Earned three varsity letters … As a senior was named first team All-Northeast Region by Perfect Game … Was also rated as the ninth best player in the state of New Jersey and the 86th best outfielder nationally by Perfect game … Selected first team All-Big North Conference and was a preseason first team ESPNhs All-State pick … Set his school’s single-season record with 31 stolen bases as a senior … Hit over .350 with an on-base percentage over .550 during his high school career, with totals of 86 runs scored and 79 stolen bases … Senior team captain … Won three conference and two country championships … Team also won a non-public Section A title and was ranked in the top 10 in the country several times during his career … Three-year starter who helped lead his team to a 75-9 record from his sophomore through senior seasons … Member of the Italian National Honor Society and graduated with a 3.42 grade-point average.
