On Almonte: Two-year member of the weekend starting rotation who made a successful transition to being a late-inning reliever as a senior ... Steady presence on the mound ... His repertoire included a fastball with plus velocity and an effective breaking ball which he used effectively both ahead and behind in the count ... Was a 16th round draft pick of the St. Louis Cardinals in 2015 following the end of his collegiate career.

Career: Pitched in 55 games with 29 starts ... Had a record of 7-13 with two saves and a 5.24 ERA in 166 2/3 innings ... Did not allow a home run to the final 510 batters he faced in his collegiate career ... That streak began during the middle of his sophomore season ... Overall, he yielded just three home runs to 786 batters faced ... Allowed 203 hits and 126 runs (97 earned) while walking 73 and striking out 99 ... Gave up three earned runs or less in 21 of his 29 career starts ... All but six of his relief appearances came as a senior in 2015, when he became a reliable late-inning reliever.

2015: Shifted to the bullpen in his final season of collegiate baseball and emerged as a dependable late-inning reliever ... Pitched in 20 games, all in relief, on the year and went 3-2 with two saves and a 4.15 ERA spanning 17 1/3 innings pitched ... Averaged 7.8 strikeouts per nine innings and finished the year with 18 hits allowed and 12 runs (eight earned) to go along with 10 walks and 15 strikeouts ... Opponents hit .273 against him and he did not allow a single extra-base hit to the 79 batters he faced ... Had a stretch of nine straight scoreless appearances from April 11 through May 8 in which he did not allow a run in seven innings of work ... Registered the final two outs of a win over Lafayette to earn his first collegiate save ... Picked up his second save of the year when he pitched the bottom of the 10th inning at Saint Joseph's in the final non-conference game of the year; BIG EAST: Made 10 appearances in conference games and registered all three of his victories against BIG EAST foes ... 2014: Made 12 starts as a member of the weekend rotation and compiled a 1-6 record with a 5.55 ERA ... His 12 starts and 58 1/3 innings pitched ranked second on the team ... Allowed 78 hits and 46 runs (36 earned) while walking 24 and striking out 25 ... Faced 288 batters and did not allow a single home run ... Surrendered three earned runs or fewer in eight of his starts ... Made four quality starts and pitched into the sixth inning on three other occasions ... Gave up just three hits and an earned run over seven innings in his first start of the season at Charleston Southern ... Earned the win with six strong innings against Quinnipiac ... Had a season-high five strikeouts in his final start of the year versus Penn State; BIG EAST: Started five conference games and was 0-3 with a 6.45 ERA over 22 1/3 innings pitched ... Gave up 32 hits and 19 runs (16 earned), with 13 walks and 12 strikeouts ... Allowed three earned runs on six hits over 6.0 innings in a 5-4 win over St. John's ... 2012: Started all 12 of his appearances and went 1-5 with a 5.63 ERA ... Pitched 56.0 innings and allowed 66 hits and 44 runs (35 earned), with 22 walks and 41 strikeouts ... Allowed three earned runs or fewer in nine of his 12 starts and pitched into at least the sixth inning five times ... Surrendered only two home runs to 259 batters faced ... Struck out a career-high nine batters in a home start against La Salle, going six innings in which he allowed just two earned runs in an eventual 7-5 victory ... Was the winning pitcher against University of the Sciences, going five innings and striking out seven while allowing just two hits and no earned runs; BIG EAST: Made four starts in conference games and went 0-3 despite pitching to a 4.37 ERA over 22 2/3 innings ... Villanova was 4-1 in the games he started, although he received a no-decision in each start ... Struck out a season-high four batters in starts against Temple and Manhattan; BIG EAST: Pitched in four games with two starts and compiled a 3.07 ERA in 14 2/3 innings ... Surrendered 13 hits and held opponents to a .245 batting average ... Allowed eight runs (five earned) while walking nine and striking out four ... Started his final two appearances of the season against Rutgers and St. John's, allowing five earned runs over 12 1/3 innings (3.65 ERA) ...
