Baseball vs. Delaware State

Villanova defeated Delaware State, 2-1, to win its home opener at the Villanova Ballpark at Plymouth on March 8, 2016.

On Rosero: Talented young pitcher who is an up-and-comer on the Villanova staff ... Showed plenty of promise as a freshman last season and should continue to make progress with additional innings under his belt ... Will be in the mix to earn a role either in the rotation or out of the bullpen this season.

2016: Had a successful collegiate debut and pitched in 10 games with three starts ... Owned a 2-1 record and a 4.44 ERA while pitching 24 1/3 innings ... Allowed 26 hits and 14 runs (12 earned), with 11 walks and 15 strikeouts ... Opponents batted .274 against him ... Tossed a combined 2 2/3 scoreless innings in two appearances against Houston in the first series of the season ... His collegiate debut in the first game of the series was for 1 2/3 innings, in which he allowed just one hit and two walks while striking out three ... Made his first collegiate start against Indiana State and gave up two earned runs on five hits without a walk in 4 2/3 innings ... Earned wins in that game and in his second start against Delaware State, when he worked a season-high six scoreless innings while allowing just two hits and two walks and striking out three; BIG EAST: Appeared in three conference games out of the bullpen ... Allowed three earned runs on five hits while walking one and striking out three in 4 1/3 innings ... Opposing batters were 5-for-18 (.278) against him ... Pitched a scoreless inning with two strikeouts at Xavier.

Club Baseball: Played for the South Florida Bandits for four years from eighth through 11th grades ... Also played for the Midville Dodgers following his high school graduation.

Holy Cross High School: Played four years of baseball and soccer, including two seasons on the varsity team for each sport ... Earned All-Queens baseball honors as a senior and finished the season with a 1.78 ERA ... Was a striker on the junior varsity soccer team and a goalkeeper for the varsity squad ... Named to the Principal's List for his academic success all four years ... Achieved a 4.0 grade-point average and was inducted to the National Honor Society.
