Todd Czinege Named to BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll
Sophomore second baseman Todd Czinege (Overland Park, Kan.) was named to the weekly BIG EAST Honor Roll on Monday afternoon, marking the second time this season he has garnered recognition from the conference. Czinege batted .333 (6-18) over four games last week and recorded the 100th hit of his career.
Wildcats Tie Single-Game Doubles Record in 6-5 Win Over Georgetown
Sophomore second baseman Todd Czinege (Overland Park, Kan.) doubled in each of his first three plate appearances and Villanova (13-17, 1-2 BIG EAST) salvaged a three-game series against Georgetown (16-15, 3-3 BIG EAST) with a 6-5 victory in the finale at the Villanova Ballpark at Plymouth on Sunday afternoon. Czinege and junior left fielder Adam Goss (Bellaire, Texas) contributed three hits apiece and the Wildcats tied a school record with eight doubles in the game.
Wildcats Fall to Georgetown, 6-4, in Middle Game of Series
Two runs in the top of the ninth inning accounted for the difference in a back-and-forth game as Villanova (12-17, 0-2 BIG EAST) fell to Georgetown (16-14, 3-2 BIG EAST) by a final score of 6-4 at the Villanova Ballpark at Plymouth on Saturday afternoon. The decisive runs in the ninth inning came after the Wildcats had rallied to tie the game with two runs in the bottom of the eighth.
Championship Game of Liberty Bell Classic Moved to Wednesday Night
Tuesday night's Liberty Bell Classic championship game between Villanova and Rider was cancelled by the Phillies this morning due to the lingering rain in the area. The game is rescheduled for Wednesday evening at 7:30 p.m. at Citizens Bank Park.
Early Deficit Too Much to Overcome as Wildcats Fall to Georgetown, 9-3
Villanova (12-16, 0-1 BIG EAST) opened conference play with a 9-3 loss to Georgetown (15-14, 2-2 BIG EAST) in the opener of a three-game series at the Villanova Ballpark at Plymouth on Friday afternoon. After the Wildcats fell behind by a nine-run deficit in the first three innings, four relievers out of the bullpen combined to pitch 6 2/3 innings of scoreless, two-hit relief the rest of the way. Junior shortstop Eric Lowe (Arlington Heights, Ill.) went 4-for-4 to lead Villanova offensively in a game that looked very different from the bottom of the third inning on than the final score indicated.

The Villanova baseball team (12-15, 0-0 BIG EAST) opens up BIG EAST play this weekend with a three-game series against the Georgetown Hoyas (14-14, 1-2, BIG EAST). The series begins tomorrow Friday, April 11 at the Villanova Ballpark at Plymouth with first pitch slated for 3:15 p.m.

The victory advances the Wildcats to the championship game of the Liberty Bell Classic next Tuesday (April 14) at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia. Villanova will be making its 11th appearance in the championship game of the local tournament and will face Rider to determine the 2015 champion.
