Todd Czinege and Adam Goss Earn First Team All-BIG EAST Honors
Sophomore second baseman Todd Czinege (Overland Park, Kan.) and junior left fielder Adam Goss (Bellaire, Texas) were each named first team All-BIG EAST selections in an announcement by the conference office on Tuesday morning. The league revealed its major award winners on all-conference teams in advance of the BIG EAST Championship which begins later this week. Czinege receives All-BIG EAST recognition for the second straight year, while Goss earns all-conference recognition for the first time.
Wildcats Close 150th Season of Baseball with 4-3 Loss to Creighton
In the final game of the 150th season of Villanova baseball, the Wildcats tallied 11 hits but came up just short in a 4-3 loss to Creighton (30-17, 13-4 BIG EAST) at TD Ameritrade Park on Saturday afternoon. Despite the loss, Villanova (22-28, 7-11 BIG EAST) ends the year with a six-game improvement in the win column over last season and created plenty of positive momentum for the program throughout the year.
Wildcats Edged by Creighton, 4-2, in Second Game of Series
In a game that had runs scored only in the fifth inning, Villanova (22-27, 7-10 BIG EAST) came up on the short end of a 4-2 decision against Creighton (29-17, 12-4 BIG EAST) in the second game of a three-game series on Friday evening. Neither team could gain much traction offensively except for the busy fifth inning.
Wildcats and Creighton Schedule Doubleheader For Friday Afternoon and Evening
With only two days left on the regular season calendar and the looming threat of severe weather, Villanova and Creighton have agreed to play a doubleheader starting at 2:30 p.m. Central time on Friday afternoon.
Wildcats Fall Behind Early, Lose Series Opener to Creighton by 13-5 Final
A four-run bottom of the first inning sank Villanova (22-26, 7-9 BIG EAST) into an early hole and the Wildcats never fully caught up despite consecutive rallies in the third and fourth innings. Creighton (28-17, 11-4 BIG EAST) eventually put the game away with five unearned runs in the bottom of the sixth and went on to a 13-5 victory at TD Ameritrade Park on Thursday afternoon. The contest, which was delayed more than 90 minutes at the start due to rain, was the opener of this week's three-game series to end the regular season.

A new location and a relatively unfamiliar opponent awaits Villanova (22-25, 7-8 BIG EAST) in the final series of the regular season, as the Wildcats travel to Creighton (27-17, 10-4 BIG EAST) for a three-game set at TD Ameritrade Park. The team arrived in Omaha on Wednesday evening and is set to play the series opener today at 12:30 p.m. Central time. Friday's game gets underway at 6:30 p.m. and Saturday's contest is slated for 1 p.m.
Jewitt Goes Deep in 10th Inning as Wildcats Outlast Saint Joseph’s, 6-5
Junior third baseman Kevin Jewitt (West Chester, Pa.) hit a two-run home run in the top of the 10th inning and Villanova (22-25) hung on in the bottom of the inning for a 6-5 win over Saint Joseph’s (20-26) at Smithson Field on Tuesday afternoon. Jewitt’s blast to left field for his fourth homer of the season with nobody out in the 10th accounted for the difference in the back-and-forth contest and the Wildcats closed out their midweek game schedule with a 6-1 record this year against other Big Five teams.
Baseball Takes Series From Seton Hall on Comeback Win, 12-10
The Villanova baseball team (21-25, 7-8 BIG EAST) won the series and completed a seven-run comeback in the final innings of the weekend series finale against Seton Hall (22-22, 7-8 BIG EAST) on Saturday afternoon, 12-10. The Wildcats used a six-run sixth and a three-run seventh to erase a seven-run deficit in the second game of a doubleheader.
