BRONX, N.Y. - The Villanova women's cross country squad clinched the ECAC/IC4A Championship title in Bronx, N.Y. earlier today, as freshman Callie Hogan and senior Akilah Vargas led the Wildcats by placing first and second overall, respectively. Villanova finished with 43 total points to secure the crown followed by runner-up William & Mary with 58 points. Cornell rounded out the top-three with a final total score of 83.

"I am extremely proud of how we ran today," says Villanova women's head coach Gina Procaccio. "This win means a lot to this group and has allowed our freshman to gain valuable experience."

Hogan and Vargas led all runners this morning clocking in at 17:48 and 17:56, respectively. Freshman Ali Smith, who has had a solid rookie campaign, crossed the finish line in 18:06 to place fifth overall. Fellow classmate Amanda Marino took the 12th spot in 18:23, followed by junior Ellen Dougherty with a time of 18:43, good enough to place 27th.
