Women's Cross Country Earns Trip to NCAA Championships

The Villanova women's cross country team has earned an at-large bid to the 2000 NCAA cross country championships that will be held on Monday, Nov. 20 at Iowa State University. At last week's regional meet, the Wildcats placed third with 96 points behind Georgetown (36 points) and West Virginia (94) who earned the two automatic bids from the region.
At the regional meet held last Saturday at Penn State, Villanova senior Ann McGranahan captured individual honors with a time of 20:32.34. Georgetown's Autumn Fogg finished second behind McGranahan with a clocking of 20:44.10. McGranahan also won the Big East Conference individual championship on October 27 at Franklin Park in Boston, Mass.
For the second-straight year, both the Villanova men and women cross country teams have both qualified for the NCAA Championships. Also, at last week's regional meet, the Villanova men placed second behind Georgetown to garner an automatic bid to the NCAA meet.
