Wildcats Prepare For NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships
Nov. 8, 2007
VILLANOVA, Pa. - The Villanova cross country squads are spending their final days preparing for the 2007 NCAA Cross Country Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships scheduled for this Saturday, Nov. 10.
The event will be hosted by Lehigh University on Goodman Campus, the same course of the Paul Short Invitational held earlier this season. The Division I Men's 10k race start time is set for 11:00 a.m., followed by the women's 6k race at 12:15 p.m.
The Wildcats saw success on this course back in September while competing in the highly touted Paul Short Invitational. The Villanova men secured a team victory behind the leadership of senior Bobby Curtis, who placed first overall and set a new course record in the process. The women finished 11th behind freshmen teammates Callie Hogan and Ali Smith, who were the first and second runners to cross the finish line for Villanova. Senior Akilah Vargas completed the initial Wildcat trio of top-finishers. The women's squad has steadily improved throughout this fall and is looking to post solid performances this weekend.
