Villanova Women's Cross Country Move up One Spot to No. 5

VILLANOVA, Pa. - After winning the BIG EAST Championship on Oct. 31, the Villanova women's cross country team moved up one spot in the USTFCCCA coaches poll to No. 5, becoming the highest ranked squad in the conference. The men's cross country team is now ranked No. 30, entering the poll after turning in a third place finish at the BIG EAST Cross Country Championships. The women switched places with West Virginia, who is now ranked No. 6 in the nation. Also ranked in the BIG EAST is Georgetown (No. 13) and Providence (No. 24). The Wildcats are ranked second in the Mid-Atlantic Region, behind Princeton who is ranked No. 4 in the country. Villanova had four runners finish in the Top 10 at the conference championship and all seven runners were named to the All-BIG EAST team for finishing in the Top 25. The men's third place squad had five runners finish in the Top 25 and was named to the All-BIG EAST team. The Wildcats will be back in action on Nov. 15 to compete in the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regionals in Princeton, N.J.
