TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - The No. 13 Villanova women's cross country squad ran a successful race at the Pre-Nationals hosted by Indiana State University, in Terre Haute, Ind., on Saturday morning. The Wildcats finished second in the Blue Race, coming in just behind No. 1 ranked Washington.

Villanova's second place finish was ahead of several other highly ranked opponents and three other top 10 teams. No. 4 Minnesota finished third, No. 9 Michigan State came in fourth and No. 6 Stanford was in seventh place.

Individually, the Wildcats had five runners finish in the top 45 in the 6,000 meter race. The top finisher for Villanova was freshman Bogdana Mimic who ran the course in 20:33.4 to earn 13th place. Senior Frances Koons was right behind her as she crossed the finish line in 20:35.8 for 14th place. Junior Kaitlyn Tallman finished in 25th place with a time of 20:53.9, while sophomore Amanda Marino ran the course in 20:59.5 and finished 30th. Senior Callie Hogan was 44th as she ran 21:15.4.

Senior Ellen Dougherty came in first in the women's open race finishing in 21:17.1.

The Wildcats will be preparing for the BIG EAST Championships held on Oct. 31 at Van Cortlandt Park, N.Y.
