Metairie, LA - The Villanova women's cross country team has been named by the USTFCCCA as a Division I All-Academic Team for the 2006 season. The women were one of 146 teams to receive this honor, finishing the fall term with a cumulative grade point average of 3.298. To qualify as an All-Academic Team, teams must compete in the NCAA region meet and have at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA.

The Wildcats also had two performers, senior Akilah Vargas and junior Frances Koons, recognized for NCAA Division I All-Academic Indivdual Honors. Seventy-six runners compiled the list that required its performers to have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 during the 2006 fall term.
