STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - The No. 28 men's cross country team turned in a third place finish at the Penn State National on Friday morning. The men ran a 5.2 mile race at the Blue/White Golf Course on Penn State's campus.

No. 8 Georgetown was the top finisher with Penn State coming in second on its home course. The Wildcats earned their second podium finish in as many meets, building on their 3rd place finish at the Paul Short Invitational two weeks ago.

Sophomore Hugo Beamish was the top finisher for the Wildcats as he ran the course in 25:19 to come in fourth place. Sophomore Keith Capecci came in 15th, while junior Daniel Lewis crossed the finish line in 17th with times of 25:36 and 25:37 respectively. Rounding out Villanova's top 5 scorers were sophomore Carl Mackenzie and and senior Steve Curley.

The team was without the services of World Cross Country Championship representatives sophomore Ben Guest and freshman Mat Mildenhall who will look to join the team at the BIG EAST Championships and use their international racing experience to make an impact. The conference championship will be held on Oct. 31 at Van Cortland Park in New York.

The No. 13 Villanova women's squad will be competing in the Pre-National race hosted by Indiana State in Terre Haute, Ind. The race will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 18.
