PRINCETON, N.J.--Four of the top seven finishers in the 1650 yard freestyle represented Villanova - including winner Roxy Tammadge (Durban, South Africa) - and the Wildcats finished three days of competition at DeNunzio Pool with a fifth place team finish in the Big Al Open hosted by Princeton this weekend.
Tammadge won her second race of the weekend and seventh of the season with a time of 16:33.20 in the 1650 free. In a field of 24 competitors she beat the runner-up from the host Tigers by more than seven seconds in the first race held during Sunday's evening session which concluded the meet. All four of the finishers in the top seven for Villanova were third-year swimmers and Tammadge was followed by classmates Hayley Edwards (Pilesgrove) in third place (16:45.21), Leigh Anne Patterson (Cherry Hill, N.J.) in fifth place and Summer Cook (Thornton, Colo.) in seventh place (16:56.71).
Patterson later came in 16th in the 200 butterfly (2:10.32) and anchored the Wildcats "B" entry in the 400 free relay, where she registered a split of 54.28.
As a team the Wildcats finished the meet with 460 team points. Princeton won the title with 1038.5 points and was followed by Brown (603.5), Rutgers (492) and James Madison (471) ahead of Villanova in fifth place.

In each event Du Plessis moved up one spot in the finals from her standing following the preliminaries on Sunday morning. Junior Laura McGlaughlin (West Chester, Pa.) came in 11th in the 200 breast (2:20.53).
Du Plessis was one of three Wildcats to advance to the finals of the 200 back, as senior Lindsey Hagens (Westboro, Mass.) came in 11th (2:07.07) and sophomore Mikah Schlesinger (Herzliya, Israel) placed 18th (2:07.46).
Villanova advanced two swimmers each to the "B" and "C" level finals of the 100 free. Freshman Katrin Heider (Bergisch Gladbach, Germany) and junior Natalie Elphick (Durban, South Africa) finished ninth (51.84) and 10th (51.94), respectively.
