VILLANOVA, Pa.— The Villanova Swimming and Diving teams will travel to Piscataway, N.J. this weekend to compete in the Rutgers Penta-Meet. Other teams competing in this weekend’s events are Rutgers, Seton Hall, Georgetown, and Pittsburgh.
“This matchup annually brings together some great rivalries that have been in place for several years. This is a great opportunity to gauge where we are in our training as we go up against former conference foes with Rutgers and Pitt and current Big East Rivals in Georgetown and Seton Hall,” Head swimming coach Rick Simpson said.
Women’s swimming and diving is coming off a strong showing at the Drexel Invitational two weekends ago where they took first place against Drexel and La Salle. The Wildcats also had three swimmers break Drexel pool records. Darby Goodwin also received BIG EAST notable performance honors on Oct. 24 for her two pool record breaking performances in the 100 and 200 back. Katie Walker took first in both of her diving events on the weekend, scoring 244.55 in the 1-meter dive and 244.50 in the 3-meter dive.
The Men’s swimming and diving team also had a strong showing at the Drexel Invite. While they dropped the meet to Drexel and La Salle, the Wildcats had seven finish in the top seven in their respective events. Jake Hoin captured a second-place finish in the 100 butterfly while helping 200 medley relay team to a second-place finish also.
Events are set to begin on Friday, Nov. 3 at 4 p.m. and while action will resume at 10 a.m. on Saturday Nov. 4. All results will be posted on villanova.com at the conclusion of each day.
