Villanova, PA - Villanova University Swimming and Diving Team traveled to Ft. Lauderdale over Fall Break for a training trip and an exhibition meet with Florida Atlantic University. While down in Florida, the diving team met up with former Wildcat diver Don Colombo (72) and his wife, Susan. Colombo graduated from Villanova in 1972 and excelled as a member of the Villanova Diving team.

Colombo spent the better part of three practices with the current Villanova squad while they were in Florida. Current Villanova head diving coach Gary Elder was very appreciative of Colombo's time during the trip and felt that his team learned something from working with him.

"Having Don work with my divers was a great asset to the trip. They have seen tape of one of Don's world records and really responded to his coaching style. Don has a very positive approach and is a true diving professional. Don really went out of his way to help us out."

Don Colombo began coaching Pine Crest School divers in 1997 and is now the head diving coach. In addition to coaching the diving team, Colombo also teaches physical education classes at Pine Crest School. Pine Crest is located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and is a prep school for grades K through 12. Colombo, a professional high diver, set two World Records for the highest dive and competed as a member of the USA Acapulco Cliff Diving Team. He continues to compete today as a masters diver.
