AUSTIN, TEXAS - On Friday, March 22 in day two of the 2002 NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships in Austin, Texas, Villanova junior Maddy Crippen placed eighth in the preliminaries of the 400 yard individual medley to advance to Friday night's finals.

Crippen finished the 400 yard IM prelims with a time of 4:14.24 to place eighth. The top eight finishers in each event advance to the finals.

Also competing on Friday, Wildcat sophomore Rebecca Koch finished 20th in the preliminaries of the 200 yard freestyle, posting a time of 1:48.09. Koch's 20th place finish was not good enough to advance her to Friday night's finals.
