Hardie Named February Student-Athlete of the Month

VILLANOVA, Pa. - After earning BIG EAST Co-Most Outstanding Swimmer honors and winning the conference championship with the women's swimming & diving team, Fiona Hardie was named February's Student-Athlete of the Month, as announced by the Office of Academic Support for Athletics Friday.

Hardie was named to the All-BIG EAST team in six events after helping the Wildcats to their first conference championship since 1996. The Hampshire, England, native placed first in five events she competed in, including the 200 butterfly and 100 butterfly while helping her team to gold in the 200 freestyle relay, 200 medley relay and 400 medley relay. Hardie also earned silver in the 50 freestyle.

With Colleen Lord, Kristin Haufler and Sara Jurek, Hardie helped set a program record in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:42.76.

The sophomore geography major holds a 3.15 cumulative GPA and was named to the Dean's List for the fall semester.

Hardie has been an important contributor for the Wildcats since she arrived at Villanova, competing in butterfly, freestyle and relay events.
