Championship Central/Complete Results

EAST MEADOW, N.Y.-- Sophomore Sarah Czar (Egg Harbor Township, N.J.) posted strong finishes in the 100 and 200 yard freestyle races and Villanova placed seventh out of 12 teams at the BIG EAST Championships this weekend at the Nassau County Aquatic Center. The Wildcats totaled 285 team points during the weekend.

Villanova advanced athletes to the championship round of seven different individual events, including Czar in her two strongest competitions. She took second place and picked up 17 points with a time of 1:48.98 in the 200 free and came in sixth in the 100 free with a time of 51.33 that was good for 13 points.

The weekend was a busy one for Czar, who swam on four of the five Wildcat relays during the championships. The top relay finish for Villanova was a fourth-place showing out of 11 teams in the 800 yard freestyle relays. Czar was the leadoff leg of that relay and swam in front of freshman Astrid Armgarth (Linkoping, Sweden), junior Kaitlynn Osborn (Lake Bluff, Ill.) and senior Tiffany Brown (San Diego, Calif.).

Armgarth enjoyed a strong showing in individual competition as well, placing seventh out of 23 in the 1,650 yard freestyle. She touched in 16:49.55 to earn 12 team points and also finished in seventh place in the 400 yard individual medley (4:23.96) and in 10th place in the 200 yard IM (2:05.91).

Junior Kerri McIlvain (Philadelphia, Pa.) produced a sixth-place finish in the 200 yard breaststroke (2:17.85) and an eighth-place finish in the 100 yard breaststroke (1:04.06). Additionally, freshman Liz Stetson (Barrington, Ill.) took seventh in the 200 yard butterfly with a time of 2:06.26.
