Villanova Swimming & Diving Splits with Yale

VILLANOVA, Pa. -- On Tuesday, Nov. 25, the Villanova women's swimming and diving team defeated Yale 155-143, while the men lost to the visiting Bulldogs 195-103, in a dual meet held at the Villanova Swim Center on the campus of Villanova University.

In the women's relay competition, the wildcats were victorious in the 200 yard relay medley, led by juniors Jackie Gruters, Kristin Stretanski and Liz Lauwaert along with freshman Kristen Olson who posted a time of 1:49.16.

Gruters and Olson were also outstanding on the individual end. Gruters recorded a victory in the 100 yard back stroke posting a time 58.79. Olson notched victories in both the 100 yard freestyle (52.62) and the 200 yard freestyle (1:53.99).

In the men's relay competition, the wildcats defeated the Bulldogs in the 400 yard relay freestyle posting a time of 3:11.84. The wildcats team was composed of freshman R.C. Thompson and James Fry, and sophomores Brian Finucane and Jared Lucan.

Lucan also posted great individual times, notchig two indivivdual victories. Lucan recorded victories in the 100 yard freestyle (47.25) and the 200 yard freestyle (1:43.63). ng two individual victories. The Wildcats return to action on December 4-6, when they will compete in the University of Virginia Invite.
