PRINCETON, N.J.— The Villanova men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams concluded day two of competition at the Big Al Open on Saturday night. The men are currently in sixth place with 190.5 points and the women are in third place with 485 points.
Darby Goodwin continued to dominate the 100 backstroke as she placed first with a time 54.20. Elise Pidutti also came out strong for the Wildcats as she placed second in the 400 IM and eighth in the 100 breaststroke. Alexa Fabbri earned a pair of second place finishes on Saturday night in 100 fly (54.67) and 200 free (1:46.99).
In prelims of the 100 breaststroke, senior Tyler Nussbaum broke a 21 year old Villanova school record as he finished the race in a time of 54.69. Andrew Kelley touched the wall fourth in the 100 backstroke as he clocked in 49.49. The 800-freestyle relay team consisting of Justin Cucchi, John Paul Naughton, Luke Sabal, and John Davidson earned an eighth place finish in the time of 6:48.34.
The Wildcats will be back in action on Sunday morning to compete in the final day of the Big Al open.
