Wildcats Finish 5th and 6th at the Terrapin Invite

The Villanova University swimming and diving programs competed this past weekend at the Terrapin Invitational hosted by the University of Maryland. The women took home a fifth place finish and the men brought home sixth. Freshman Astrid Armgarth had an impressive weekend finishing in the top-five of four individual races while also competing in two relay teams that finished fourth and seventh, respectively. She finished third in the 1650 freestyle, fourth in the 400 IM and fifth in both the 500 freestyle and 200 breast. The 1650 was an impressive race for the Wildcats women as they picked up four of the eight spots. Armgarth finished third while junior Kaitlynn Osborn picked up sixth, sophomore Shannon Dwyer got seventh and junior Laura Skoda rounded it out in eighth. The women also picked up four of the top eight spots in the 200 breast as well. Junior Kerrie McIlvain finished third while Armgarth went fifth followed by junior Brienne von Rosendahl in seventh and senior Caitlin Regan in eighth. McIlvain picked up a pair of third place solo performances in the previously mentioned 200 breast as well as the 100 breast. Junior Lindsay Davis had two top-10 finishes picking up a third place in three-meter diving and sixth in the one-meter. The best individual men's performance was in the 1650 free when senior Kiel Costella and sophomore AJ Mak finished sixth and seventh, respectively. Senior Michael Hanne also picked up a seventh place finish in the three-meter diving competition.
Other top performances included a pair of top-10 finishes by Osborn who picked up a sixth spot in the 1650 and a seventh place finish in the 500 freestyle. Sophomore Sarah Czar finished fourth in the 200 freestyle. Von Rosendahl got two top-10 spots with the 200 breast performance and a fifth place finish in the 100 breast. The Wildcats will be back in action at Georgetown University on December 1st at 1 p.m. |
