Wildcats Perform at Frank Elm Invite

PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Villanova men swimming and diving posted four fourth-place finishes in the first five events of the Frank Elm Invite Friday night in Piscataway. Russell Paulson, Ben Smith and Jason Moyer had individual finishes, while the 200 yard freestyle relay team also recorded fourth place. The men's scoring performance currently has them sitting at third overall in the meet.
The Wildcats got off to a good start in the first event of the competition as the 200 yard freestyle relay team featuring Scott Thiede (Bethesda, Md.), Braden Clarke (Chappaqua, N.Y.), Kyle Grant (Winnetka, Ill.) and Jason Moyer (Coopersburg, Pa.) took fourth place with a time of 1:25.60.
Russell Paulson (West Chester, Pa.) registered fourth place in the 500 yard freestyle, touching the wall at 4:35.65. Scott Thiede and Pat Sullivan (Lowell, Mass.) finished just behind Paulson in fifth and sixth place, respectively.
Ben Smith (Sudbury, Mass.) got his fourth-place finish in the 200 individual medley as he crossed the finish line in 1:55.50. Jason Moyer notched fourth place in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 24.47.
Villanova continues their competition in the Frank Elm Invite Saturday and Sunday afternoon.
