Villanova Men Drop in BIG EAST Matches

PISCATAWAY, N.J. - The Villanova men's swimming & diving team fell to BIG EAST opponents Seton Hall, 177.50-171.50, and Georgetown, 214.00-127.00, Friday and Saturday in Piscataway, N.J.

Junior Jason Moyer earned first in the 100 freestyle with a time of 47.16. Moyer placed second in the 50 freestyle (21.95), just .04 seconds behind first place. The Coopersburg, Pa., native also took third in the 200 freestyle (1:45.19).

Senior Ben Smith continued his dominant season at butterfly, placing first in the 100 event with a 51.03 and first in the 200 event with a 1:54.64. Sophomore Nikolai Tchobanov took third in the 200 (1:59.37).

Smith also earned first in the 200 individual medley (1:57.12). Smith and Tchobanov took second and third in the 400 individual medley with times of 4:11.80 and 4:17.75. Freshmen Harrison Rodts and Greg Cino took second and third, respectively, in the 1000 freestyle with times if 10:03.28 and 10:03.91.

Senior Kyle Grant, junior Chris Tamanini, freshman Michael Rodriguez and freshman Murphy Smith took second in the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:27.34.

The team took first in the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 3:11.40 and placed third in the 200 medley relay (1:36.40). The Wildcats also took second in the 400 medley relay (3:31.19).

Sophomore Zachary Romanovsky earned a 217.55 on the 1-meter board and a 228.00 on the 3-meter board.



Villanova heads back to Piscataway from Nov. 22-24 for the annual Frank Elm Invite.
