New Brunswick, N.J. - Junior Sarah Czar (Egg Harbor Twp., N.J.) brought home four first place finishes as the Wildcat women fell 202-151 to Connecticut and 190-150 to Rutgers. The Villanova men came up short against Connecticut as they lost 193-143. Czar earned her first win in the 100 free with a time of 52.17. She followed up taking home first place in the 200 free with a time of 1:52.21, more than two seconds faster than her closest competitor. Her other wins came in the 200 free relay and the 400 free relay as the Wildcat women took first in both events. A team consisting of Czar, senior Marlee Morden (Sarnia, Ontario) and freshmen Kelley Groves (Pittsford, N.Y.) and Liz Clarke (Winnetake, Ill.) finished with a time of 1:37.70, touching the wall only :00.09 faster than Rutgers. In the 400 free, the same group finished in a time of 3:33.33, more than five seconds faster than Connecticut. Senior Kerri McIlvain and junior Shannon Dwyer each recorded 13 points for the Wildcats. McIlvain finished first in the 100 breast and second in the 200 breast with times of 1:05.43 and 2:20.81 respectively. Dwyer took home first in the 1650 free (17:34.39), more than 15 seconds faster than second place. Dwyer brought home second in the 500 free with a time of 5:05.83. On the men's side, junior Sean Whipkey (McLean, Va.) finished second in the 200 free. His time of 1:45.62 recorded four points for the Wildcats. The Wildcats men also placed second in the 200 free relay. Freshmen Marc Maurizi (Lancaster, Pa.) and Eric Bailey (Burlington, Vt.) and sophomores Tony Colalillo (Logansport, Ind.) and Nick Williams (Holmdel, N.J.) combined for a time of 1:30.04. The Wildcats are back in action Thursday November 20th when they head to College Park, Md. for the University of Maryland Terrapin Cup.
