SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - On Friday, Nov. 1, the Villanova men's and women's swimming & diving teams opened the new month by traveling to South Orange, N.J., to take on the Seton Hall Pirates. The Wildcat women beat the Pirates handily on Friday, cruising to a 145-82 win. The Villanova men fell to Seton Hall by the score of 172-56.
The Wildcats were extremely successful on the diving platform on Friday, as Julie Rhines swept the one and three-meter dives. Rhines posted marks of 155.35 in the one-meter and 136.15 in the three-meter to take both events.
Senior Maddy Crippen and junior Rebecca Koch followed Rhines' lead by dominating the pool. Crippen won the 200 yard individual medley (2:13.11), 200 yard butterfly (2:05.99) and 500 yard freestyle (5:06.96) events, while Koch took the 100 (53.01) and 200 yard (1:55.13) freestyles.
Other winners for the Wildcat women included Lauren Schullman in the 1000 yard freestyle (10:25.50), Victoria Delollo in the 200 yard backstroke (2:09.93), and Charysse Johnston in the 200 yard breaststroke (2:27.58).
For the Villanova men, senior Peter Klimas recorded two second place finishes. Klimas took second in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 21.79, and second in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 1:47.60.
