Wildcats Fall to Huskies
Fiona Hardie placed first in the 100 and 200 butterfly events.

STORRS, Conn. - The Villanova women's swimming & diving team fell, 159-140, to Connecticut Saturday afternoon.

The Wildcats began the meet with a second-place finish in the 200 medley relay, with freshman Colleen Lord, freshman Kristin Haufler, sophomore Fiona Hardie and freshman Jessica Randolph coming in at 1:49.43.

Freshman Emily Mayo took first in the 1000 freestyle with a final time of 10:28.29. Freshman Erin Merkle took second in the event with 10:36.77.

Villanova swept the 200 freestyle with junior Sara Jurek taking first (1:52.81), Randolph earning second (1:53.10) and Mayo placing third (1:54.41).

Lord took third in the 100 backstroke (59.84) while Randolph placed third in the 100 breaststroke (1:08.68).

Hardie earned first place in the 200 butterfly (2:06.49) and the 100 butterfly (57.15)

Sophomore Kaisla Kollanus took first in the 50 freestyle (23.83) and the 100 freestyle (52.16). Jurek came in second in the event (52.21).

Mayo and junior Katrin Heider took the top two spots in the 500 freestyle with times of 5:04.61 and 5:08.09, respectively.

Randolph finished the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:08.56 for first, with Jurek coming in behind her with a 2:09.20.

In the 400 freestyle relay, Jurek, Heider, Hardie and Kollanus came in first with a final time of 3:30.97. freshman Mary Snyder, Mayo, Lord and Kristin Haufler took third (3:37.37).



Michelle Hall earned a 223.20 on the 3-meter board and a 207.38 on the 1-meter.
