WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Swimming in her top individual event on the final day of competition at the 2010 NCAA Women's Swimming & Diving Championships, freshman Hayley Edwards (Pilesgrove, N.J.) finished 29th in the 1650 yard freestyle on Saturday at the Boilermaker Aquatics Center on the campus of Purdue University.

Edwards posted a time of 16:24.23 in a remarkably consistent race on Saturday. She had previously won a BIG EAST and an ECAC Championship in the 1650 free and finished her incredible freshman season on a strong note with the last of her three races at the national championships meet. During today's swim, Edwards opened with a split of 27.46 seconds over the first 50 yards. After that, her 50-yard split times throughout the entire rest of the race were all within one second of each other.

During this weekend's national championships, Edwards also swam in the 500 yard freestyle and the 200 yard freestyle. She is the first Wildcat swimmer to compete in the national meet since Jenny Somerville did from 2005-07.
