VILLANOVA, Pa. - The Villanova men's and women's swimming and diving teams took the pool for the last time at home this season as they hosted the University of Delaware. The women continued their strong swimming defeating the Blue Hens 180-120 while the men fell 213.5-82.5.

Seven seniors took to the water for the final time on the Villanova campus including Tiffany Brown, Kiel Costella, Mike Hanne, Joey Mechak, Jesse Radtke, Zach Rambo and Caitlin Regan.

The women got things started with a victory in the 200 medley relay with sophomore Katie O'Gorman, junior Kerri McIlvain, freshman Liz Stetson and Radtke teaming up for the victory. Sophomore's Shannon Dwyer and Kristine Drysdale followed up with a second and third place finishes in the 1000 freestyle.

The dominating performance would continue as sophomore Sarah Czar, freshman Astrid Armgarth and junior Kaitlynn Osborn went one-two-three in the 200 freestyle to give the wildcats an early lead.

Brown picked up a third place finish in the 100 backstroke before McIlvain and Regan teamed up for a one-two finish in the 100 breaststroke. Stetson would pick up her second victory of the day this time swimming solo in the 200 butterfly. Radtke added to the fun finishing first in the 50 freestyle followed not far behind by junior Marlee Morden who picked up a third place finish.

Czar would once again take a race as she used a 52.56 100 freestyle to take home the victory. Delaware responded with a one-two-three finish of its own in the 200 backstroke.

That only motivated the Wildcats even more as they picked up the top three spots in the very next race with McIlvain, Armgarth and Regan taking the 200 breaststroke. Czar continued to impress the home crowd as she once again took first in the 500 freestyle.

Villanova would go on to win four of the last five events and secure the 180-120 victory.

Overall the Wildcats were led by Czar who picked up four victories including three individual races. McIlvain picked up three wins with two solo performances and Lindsay Davis who swept the diving competition winning both the one and three meter dives.

The men fell behind early but Mechak refused to let the team go down without a fight as he took a victory in the 200 butterfly which was the only win of the night for the men.

The men picked up seven second place finshes including Justin Stephens' 100 and 200 breaststroke, Rambo's 50 freestyle, Sean Whipkey's 100 freestyle, Costella's 500 freestyle, Hanne's 3 meter dive and the 200 freestyle relay.

Both team's will be back in action this Saturday as they travel to Syracuse for the final duel meet of the season.
