Wildcats earn BIG EAST win over Providence

VILLANOVA, Pa.— The Villanova men’s swimming and diving team earned their first BIG EAST win over Providence on Saturday afternoon. The Wildcats routed the Friars 135-66.

In the 200-medley relay, three Villanova relay squads took the top three spots.

John Davidson improved his time in the 1,000 freestyle as he earned first place with a time of 9:55.14. JP Naughton captured two first place finishes in the 200 freestyle (1:43.98) and 500 freestyle (4:49.47). His 200 freestyle time is his season high in this event. Nick Spina also set a new season top time in the 50 freestyle (21.51) and earned third place in the 100 freestyle (48.71).



Other swimmers earning first place finishes Saturday afternoon were Stephan Krecsmar, Andrew Kelley, and Luke Sabal.

Next up for the Wildcats is are back –to-back dual meets. The men will face BIG EAST opponent UConn on Friday and will host Ursinus on Saturday.
