2016-17: Swam in three individual events at the BIG EAST Championships…Placed 8th in the “B” final of the men’s 500-yard freestyle at the meet…Had a 10th place finish in the men’s 1650-yard freestyle…Finished in 8th place in the “B” final of the men’s 400-yard IM…Primarily competed in the freestyle and IM events during the season.

St. Anthony’s:
Four-year varsity letter winner under coach Daniel McBride…All-American, All-State, All-Long Island, All-League (2015, 2016)…Captain of the team that won the NYPHSAA State Championship (2016)…Named Newsday Scholar-Athlete of the Year (2016)…Recipient of the St. Bonaventure Award (2013-16).

Personal: Son of Norman Chernik and Anne Dunne…Has a sister, Alannah Chernik…Enrolled in the Villanova School of Business and wants to pursue a career in finance…Enjoys watching Netflix and going to the beach…Chose Villanova because of the prestigious academics and exceptional athletics.
