Ian Coffey comes to Villanova from Syracuse University, where he was an assistant coach from 2002-04. At Syracuse, his duties included on-deck coaching, travel, recruiting and team management. Coffey coached a number of school and Big East record holders, one women's and one men's NCAA qualifier in 2004 and two Big East Conference champions at Syracuse.

Coffey attended La Salle University, graduating in 1999 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in history. He went on to earn his Master's of Science degree in physical education in health promotions from Virginia Tech in 2002.

A native of Jenkintown, Pa., Coffey began his coaching career in 2000 as a graduate assistant coach at Virginia Tech, remaining with the Hokie program until leaving for Syracuse in 2002. At Tech, he coached many school and Big East record holders, a number of NCAA B qualifiers and two Big East Conference Champions.

Coffey currently resides in Devon, Pa.
