Wildcat Track & Field Competes at the Mt. SAC Relays
April 22, 2002 At the Mt. SAC Relays this past weekend in Walnut, California, Villanova junior Adrian Blincoe (Auckland, New Zealand) captured the 1500 meter run in an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 3:41.85. Blincoe's time was just short of the NCAA automatic qualifying time of 3:41.50. Scott McGowen of the University of Montana was second in the race in 3:42.25. Wildcat sophomore Ryan Hayden (Richmond, Canada) earned a sixth place finish in the race with a clocking of 3:42.74. Blincoe and Hayden will now turn their attention to the Penn Relays to be held from Thursday, April 28 to Saturday, April 30 at Franklin Field in Philadelphia. Last year, Blincoe and Hayden each ran a leg on the Wildcat DMR team that won the Championship of America Relay in 9:30.48. Blincoe and Hayden are scheduled to run on all three Villanova relay teams at the Penn Relay Carnival including the 4x1500m relay, the DMR and the 4x800m relay. In women's competition at the Mt. SAC meet, freshman Kalin Toedebusch (Rockford, Mich.) placed 13th in the 5000m run with a time of 16:56.15. Kathy Newberry won the race in 16:30.56. |
