Villanova, Pa.--- On Tuesday, March 7, the United States Track Coaches Association announced that head Villanova track and field coach Marcus O'Sullivan was voted the Mid Atlantic Region Indoor Women's Coach of the Year. He will be presented this award at the coaches' banquet on Thursday, March 9, in Springdale, Ark. In addition, Wildcat senior Carrie Tollefson was named the USTCA Mid Atlantic Region Women's Athlete of the Year.

O'Sullivan guided the Wildcat women to a Big East indoor title in 2000, their 11th indoor title since the start of the Big East Conference indoor championships in 1983. Villanova's performance improves upon its fourth place finish in O'Sullivan's first season in 1999.

Tollefson was named the Outstanding Female Performer at the Big East Indoor Championships, winning conference titles in the 3,000m (9:28.36) and 5,000m (16:04.05) runs. Tollefson has now won seven Big East Championships during her storybook career, including indoor titles.
