Muncan Finishes Fifth in the 1500m at NCAA Outdoor Championships

SACRAMENTO, CALIF. - On the final day of competition at the 2003 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday, June 14th, in Sacramento, Calif., Villanova freshman Marina Muncan finished fifth in the finals of the women's 1500m run, while junior Jonathan Fasulo placed 14th in the finals of the men's 5000m run.
Muncan ran a time of 4:11.23 on Saturday night in the finals of the 1500m to earn a fifth place finish. Her time was the third fastest ever in the event by a Villanova female, and the fastest ever by a freshman. Mississippi State's Tiffany McWilliams won the event, crossing the finish line in 4:06.75.
Fasulo closed out the 2003 championships by running a 14:11.53 in the finals of the 5000m for a 14th place finish. Arkansas's Alistair Cragg won the event with a time of 13:47.87.
