Blincoe Finishes Fifth, Hayden Sixth In 1500 Meter Finals At NCAA Championship Meet

BATON ROUGE, LA.--- Junior Adrian Blincoe (Auckland, New Zealand) placed fifth overall and sophomore Ryan Hayden (Richmond, B.C.) finished sixth, as the two Wildcat distance runners competed in the 1500 meter finals at the 2002 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday, June 1.

Stanford sophomore Donald Sage captured the 1500 meter title with a time of 3:42.65.

Blincoe crossed the finish line in 3:43.32 and Hayden finished exactly half a second later with a time of 3:43.82 as they earned the Wildcats seven team points.

Earlier in Championship competition, junior Nic O'Brien placed sixth in the 400 meter finals in a personal-best 50.16. Villanova received three team points for O'Brien's efforts, allowing the Wildcats to finish the 2002 NCAA Championships with 10 points overall.
