Women's 4x1500m Relay Team Second, Men's DMR Team Third at Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA - On day two of the 2003 Penn Relays on Friday, April 25th at Franklin Field in Philadelphia, the Villanova women's 4x1500m relay team placed second, while the Wildcat men's DMR team finished third. The Villanova women's 4x1500m relay team of Carre Joyce, Ioana Parusheva, Marina Muncan and Rebecca Mitchell posted a time of 17:32.30 to place second in the day's event. The Wildcats' time was the tenth fastest ever in the event at the Penn Relays. North Carolina won the event with a time of 17:20.18 - the second fastest time ever at the Penn Relays. Joyce ran the first leg of the 4x1500m in a time of 4:29.7, followed by Parusheva (4:18.9) and Muncan (4:20.0). Mitchell ran the anchor leg in 4:23.7 to help the `Cats earn a second place finish. The Villanova men's DMR squad finished the event third with a time of 9:33.44. Michigan won the race in 9:32.65, followed by Arkansas in second place (9:32.87), Villanova, Kentucky in fourth (3:36.33) and Florida in fifth place (3:36.33). Tom Parlapiano ran the first leg of the race for the `Cats in 2:50.5, followed by Nic O'Brien (:45.9), and Paul Moser (1:48.8). Ryan Hayden ran the anchor leg in 4:11.0, including a time of 54.8 seconds in the last quarter. The Wildcat men will get back into action tomorrow in the final day of the Penn Relays, competing in the 4xmile at 12:45 p.m. |
