Wildcats Perform Well In Penn Relays
April 24, 1998 PHILADELPHIA - In the second day of Penn Relays competition at Franklin Field in Philadelphia, the Wildcat women captured third place in the 4x1500-meter relay, finishing behind Wisconsin and Stanford.
The quartet of Tamieka Grizzle, Kristen Nicolini, Ann McGranahan, and Carmen Douma clocked in at 18:00.63, challenging through the lead through the first half of the race. Wisconsin won in a landslide, finishing the race in 17:40.30, while Stanford was timed at 17:48.52. The Wildcats edged out Big East Conference rivals Georgetown and Providence, who finished fourth and fifth respectively.
Villanova also competed in the mens distance medley relay competition, finishing 11th in a time of 9:44.65, fielding the four-man team of Scott Tantino, Michael Brown, Coulby Dunn, and Dean Smith. Michigan won the event in 9:27.64.
