STUDENT-ATHLETE APPRECIATION LUNCHEON

Luncheon Photo Gallery

This luncheon is held in conjunction with National Student-Athlete Day. The luncheon primarily recognizes student-athletes and their contributions to the University. Each coach selects a student-athlete who they feel truly serves as a role model to others. This athlete need not necessarily be the "star" of the team or even a starter. The athlete should also be someone who is involved in activities outside of athletics and a person who truly shows a concern for others.

The selected student-athlete invites a professor, staff or faculty member who has been helpful to them in their academic pursuits to attend the luncheon as a guest.

In conjunction with the Student-Athlete Appreciation Day, the Athletic Department awards the Sister Mary Cribben Award. This award was established in 1985 to honor an outstanding athlete. The recipient of this award is described as "the student-athlete who unselfishly sacrifices time, effort, body, and soul to lead and motivate his/her teammates in excelling for Villanova University through inspiration". The winner need not be the stand-out athlete or even a starter, but one who has earned the respect of teammates and coaches through his/her efforts. The 2005-2006 winners are Frank Cirone, Men's Baseball, and Adrian Semrau, Women's Volleyball.
