Villanova Announces Partnership With College Sports Online

VILLANOVA, Pa. - Villanova University Athletics and College Sports Online have entered into a partnership to provide internet audio and video content, it was announced today. College Sports Online will now serve as Villanova's partner in offering audio and video content through its official web site,

"This is an exciting new opportunity for Villanova Athletics," stated Villanova senior associate athletic director Bob Steitz. "Our partnership with College Sports Online will allow us to offer more diverse programming to Villanova fans than has been available in the past. We will be adding a number of new features, including video streaming."

As part of the "Nova Nation All Access" package, audio content of Villanova athletics will be available beginning with today's women's soccer game against La Salle (4:00 p.m.). In addition to broadcasts of live games - which can be accessed after the fact in the audio archives - both the "Talking Villanova Football with Andy Talley" and "Talking Villanova Basketball with Jay Wright" radio programs will be available to listeners.

In 2005-06 there will be live audio broadcasts of 11 different Villanova teams. Those include football, men's and women's soccer, field hockey and volleyball in the fall. In the winter, fans can tune in for men's and women's basketball games while the spring will feature broadcasts of baseball, softball and men's and women's lacrosse action.

The alliance with College Sports Online also will include the debut of video streaming on Select events will be available to subscribers, including live game action in a number of sports. (Please note that pre-existing contracts with broadcast networks prohibit the video telecast of men's and women's basketball games via the internet.) There will also be live and archived video of men's basketball and football post-game press conferences.

"The video streaming adds a dimension to our package that will go a long way towards enhancing the promotion of our teams," Steitz states. "We will have the newest technology available to us through College Sports Online and it opens up a wide range of opportunities for Villanova Athletics."

The video streaming portion of the package is expected to be in place by early September.

A single month subscription to the Villanova package can be purchased for $6.95. Access to all Villanova audio and video content in 2005-06 is available for $49.95.
