A Message from Mark Jackson, Director of Athletics
Aug. 9, 2017

Villanova, Pa. -

Dear Nova Nation:

Having served as your Director of Athletics for almost two years, and having traveled the country to meet so many passionate Villanovans, I now fully understand the incredible love for—and dedication to—this University. My family and I are so proud to be a part of Nova Nation!

Villanova Athletics is in the midst of a period of tremendous success and advancement. Our student-athletes are excelling in the classroom and on the fields of competition. Our dedicated coaches and staff are enhancing the student-athlete experience, and our facilities are experiencing a true renaissance on the Main Line. Most importantly, all of our achievements continue to be grounded in the Augustinian ideals of truth, unity and love as we work in a spirit of collaboration with our community, both on and off campus.

While these accomplishments are significant, there is still a great deal of work to be done. As Director of Athletics, one of my priorities is to secure long-term, viable revenue to support all of our 24 athletic programs and 600-plus student-athletes. In doing so, we can provide them with the tools to compete on a national level, particularly as it relates to scholarships, staffing and facilities. As many of you know, collegiate athletics has a challenging financial model. The reality for Villanova Athletics is that we have one program that generates revenue, and 23 programs and services that are heavily reliant upon what is generated through our Men’s Basketball program. A significant portion of those resources come through your attendance at our home basketball games. Therefore, your support not only sustains Men’s Basketball, but is critical to Villanova Athletics’ overall success by providing the necessary resources for all of our 24 programs to compete at the highest levels.

Starting tomorrow and continuing through the next month, we will be reaching out via email to share new procedures and policies regarding season tickets for the 2017-18 Men’s Basketball season at the Wells Fargo Center. Additional communications will soon follow regarding reseating at the Finneran Pavilion. There will be significant, but necessary, changes as it relates to access to tickets, price points, annual fund donations and benefits, and the locations of seats, both for this season at the Wells Fargo Center and next season and beyond at the Finneran Pavilion. These changes are critical to Villanova Athletics’ long-term success.

Our upcoming outreach is intended to provide detailed information on the changes and to address any questions that you may have. One of our primary goals is to be transparent and communicative to ensure that we clearly detail the process for this season and beyond. I understand that you may have questions and concerns moving forward, and the Villanova Athletics staff is ready to assist you. For questions regarding each of the following areas, please contact:

Thank you again for your support and thoughtful consideration as we work to advance all of our programs and provide for the continued success of all of Villanova's student-athletes.
