LONDON - Croatia played its final game of Group A play in women's basketball on Sunday afternoon against Turkey, falling by a final score of 70-65. The loss was the fourth in five games and prevented Croatia from advancing on to the quarterfinals.
Former Villanova women's basketball player Lisa Karcic saw time in five of the six games for Croatia and collected five rebounds while logging 18 minutes on the floor in her first Olympics appearance.
In Sunday's game against Croatia pulled out to a 24-18 lead after the first quarter but fell behind 33-31 at halftime and trailed by 14 points entering the final period. A late rally in the fourth quarter pulled Croatia as close as two points, 62-60 with 2:38 left, but Turkey held on to the lead in the final two minutes to secure the outcome.
On Monday afternoon Great Britain plays its final game of Group B men's basketball action against China at 11:45 a.m. Eastern. Earlier in the day former women's track runner Marina Muncan competes in the opening round of the 1500 meters. Her race goes off at 6:50 a.m. Eastern time.
