The Pavilion opened in 1986 as a multipurpose recreational facility and arena. The Pavilion is a eye-catching structure with its hyperbolic parabaloid roof dominating the skyline. The Pavilion is home to the Men's and Women's Basketball teams. It has also been the site for concerts, trade shows, college and job fairs, high school graduations, Advanta International Tennis Championship, NCAA Championship events, and the Villanova Law School graduation.
The Pavilion features four multipurpose courts, which can be used for basketball, tennis, and volleyball. A five-lane 200-meter track, jump pit with sand, and a pole vault pit. There is also an area equipped with two batting cages for either softball or baseball practice. The main basketball court (Game floor) is a portable maple wood surface that was replaced in the Winter of 2002. It is used only for Varsity Basketball, Intramurals, and outside events. The North Galley of the Pavilion is used as a practice area for the Women's Rowing team and the East lounge can be used as an auxiliary meeting area.
The Press Room is located on the ground floor in the Northeast corner and is a technologically updated press area with work desks that have Internet access. The Press Room can also be used as a meeting room with a capacity of 75 people. The AD' Lounge is used time to time as a meeting room with the capacity of 15 people. There is a V.I.P. box located above the West stands used mostly for development and corporate sponsorship. The Pavilion is also a fully operational convocation center available with a stage, curtains, pipe and draping, and folding chairs. The Pavilion is equipped with a state of the art sound system to make any event sound perfect. Catering/concessions services can be arranged by request.
