Funded entirely through private donations, the Davis Center for Athletics and Fitness is a three-story, 55,000 square foot structure located on Ithan Avenue in front of the Pavilion. It includes a lobby atrium that will highlight the long and proud history of Villanova men's and women's basketball, complete with photos and other fascinating memorabilia from the history of the sports on campus. The atrium will also contain photos of Wildcat fans, a group known emphatically as the "Nova Nation." The first two floors will house office space for both programs; two practice courts, one for each team; locker rooms; a weight room, cinema, and sports medicine area.
The third floor of the IARF is devoted to entirely to fitness and is open to all segments of the Villanova community. With windows showcasing the university's main campus, the area features 40 cardio machines, selecterized weight equipment, as well as free weights. There is a large meeting space that will be utilized for such group exercise as aerobics, yoga and pilates.
The new facility is environmentally friendly with energy-saving motion sensor lights and ecologically-sound storm water management. In addition, over 250 new trees have been planted around the facility.
