The BIG EAST Conference announced the 2017 Softball Preseason Coaches’ Poll in a press release this afternoon. St. John’s was picked to win the league for the second consecutive year. Villanova was selected to place fourth this season.
Women’s Tennis Team Begins 2017 Season with Iowa State
The Villanova women’s tennis team is set to play their first match of the 2017 season this weekend. On Saturday January 28th, the Wildcats will compete against Iowa State in Bethlehem, Pa. for a start time of 1:00 pm.

Villanova Hosts 10th Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service
On Monday, January 16, 2017, the Villanova community celebrated the legacy Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. This year marked the 10th year of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service. While the day was an institutional holiday for the University, student-athletes packed their day ‘off’ hosting students from various schools in Philadelphia as a part of the “Let’s Read. Let’s Move. Philadelphia” campaign. The campaign is sponsored by the Corporation for National and Community Service and First Lady Michelle Obama.
Wildcats Win Three Middle Distance Events at Gotham Cup
Villanova controlled the middle distance events in dominant fashion in its first of five consecutive meets at the Ocean Breeze Track & Field Athletic Complex on Friday afternoon. Junior Siofra Cleirigh Buttner (Dublin, Ireland), sophomore Kaley Ciluffo (LeClaire, Iowa) and redshirt freshman Bella Burda (Pleasant Valley, N.Y.) all won their events in their season debuts during competition at the Gotham Cup, and the Wildcats came out of the meet with several new personal best marks.
Villanova Women Top Richmond, 187-110
The Villanova women’s swimming and diving team defeated Richmond on Friday afternoon at the Pavilion by a score of 187-110. The Wildcats are now 6-2 in dual meets this season
Wildcats Travel to Xavier for Sunday Evening Matchup
Tip-off at the Cintas Center is set for 5 p.m. Villanova enters play riding a four game winning streak with a 10-9 overall record and a 5-3 Big East mark, while Xavier is 10-9 on the season and 2-6 in conference action.
Villanova Rallies From 22 Down to Win at Butler
The Villanova Wildcats rallied from a 22 point third quarter deficit to stun the Butler Bulldogs in overtime by a score of 70-69. Villanova has now won four in a row to improve to 10-9 overall and 5-3 in Big East Conference play.
