Wildcats Dominate in 21-11 Win over St. John's
Sean Cerrone set a career high and Danny Seibel tied a season best to pace the Wildcats (6-6, 1-3) to a 21-11 win over St. John's (3-10, 1-3) on Saturday night in Villanova Stadium.
Wildcats Earn Second Walk-Off Win of the Week
In the rubber match of their three-game weekend series against the Providence Friars (10-20, 4-9 BIG EAST), the Villanova Wildcats (21-22, 8-7 BIG EAST) came up with their second walk-off win of the week in front of the biggest crowd of the season. On Tuesday, Mackenzie Tilles hit a walk-off two run homer in the bottom of the 11th. Today, Lauren Herschberg grounded to second and Tianah Hathaway was able to scamper home before the tag could be applied.
Men's Tennis Defeated at Richmond
The men's tennis team was defeated on Saturday afternoon by a score of 7-0. The only Villanova win was the number two doubles team of Chris Seitz and Bradley Noyes. They defeated Canyon Teague and James Aronson 8-5.
Golf Completes Round One at Finegan Invitational
The Villanova golf team completed its first round at the fourth-annual Finegan Invitational on Sunday and currently sits in sixth place after shooting 302 in the first day of the two-day event.
Villanova Looks to Keep BIG EAST Tournament Dreams Alive
The Villanova women's lacrosse team (8-6, 3-2 BIG EAST) will look to fight for its first ever spot in the BIG EAST Tournament as they take on the Vanderbilt Commodores (6-8, 3-2 BIG EAST). Coming off their first program win against Temple on Wednesday, the Wildcats will look to ride this momentum straight to Connecticut.
Wildcats Finish Strong at Larry Ellis Invitational
A group of 11 athletes wrapped up competition for Villanova at the Larry Ellis Invitational on Saturday afternoon. The highlights of the action at Weaver Stadium included personal best times in the 100 meters for senior Cory Serfoss (Easton, Pa.) and sophomore Peter Winslow (Stratham, N.H.). Also recording personal top times for the Wildcats were freshman Zach Swenson (Boulder, Colo.) in the 800 meters and redshirt freshman Drake Johnston (Santa Monica, Calif.) in the 1500 meters.
Wildcats Win Pair of Events on Final Day of Larry Ellis Invitational
A dozen athletes wrapped up competition for Villanova at the Larry Ellis Invitational on Saturday afternoon. The day was a strong one for the Wildcats, who registered a pair of first place finishes at the meet. Sophomore Caitlin Bungo (Pittsburgh, Pa.) won the 3000 meters and senior Kathleen McPhillips (Carlisle, Pa.) finished first in the pole vault.
Kate Poppe Breaks Villanova Career Strikeout Record in Game One
In the first game of their three game weekend series against the Providence Friars (10-19, 4-8 BIG EAST), the Villanova Wildcats (20-22, 7-7) were defeated by a score of 2-1 in 10 innings. Kate Poppe started the game with nine strikeouts to go to tie the all-time Villanova career strikeout record and she ended the game with 13 to tie and break the record.
