Wildcats Travel to Indiana for WNIT Quarterfinal Game Sunday
Thursday night’s 69-67 overtime win over James Madison was Villanova’s fourth overtime game of the season. The Wildcats are now 4-0 in extra session games this year (70-69 win at Butler on Jan. 20; 61-58 home win versus Butler on Feb. 19; 76-71 double overtime home win against Xavier on Feb. 17; 69-67 overtime win at JMU on March 23). Villanova and North Texas are the only Division 1 teams to be 4-0 in overtime games this season.
Piccirillo Wins 800 and 1500 Meters at Penn Challenge
In her first official race for Villanova since the cross country national championships last fall, senior Angel Piccirillo (Homer City, Pa.) won both the 800 meters and the 1500 meters at the Penn Challenge on Saturday afternoon. In the first meet of the outdoor season, the Wildcats tallied a total of nine top-three finishes at Franklin Field.
Villanova Bounces Back With 8-2 Win Over Seton Hall
After a hard-fought loss in ten innings, the Villanova softball team responded with an 8-2 victory over Seton Hall in the second game of the doubleheader between the teams. With the win, the Wildcats move to 12-9 overall and 1-1 in the BIG EAST, while Seton Hall is now 14-10-1 and 1-1 in the conference.
Young Villanova Team Got its Start at Penn Challenge on Saturday
Villanova opened its outdoor season on Saturday afternoon at the Penn Challenge, where the team had athletes competing in 13 different events at Franklin Field. The Wildcats tallied a trio of third place finishes on the day.
Football Team Earns 42 Academic All-Conference Selections
Five football players who were named to the CAA Football All-Conference teams for the 2016 season were among the 42 student-athletes from Villanova who were named to the league’s Academic All-Conference squad which was announced on Thursday afternoon. This is the second straight year that the Wildcats have garnered more than 40 all-academic honors, and the program continues to rank among the best in both CAA Football and nationwide for academic achievement.
Villanova Women's Tennis Team Dominates Rider With 7-0 Win
The Villanova women’s tennis team (1-13) picked up their first win of the season today against the Rider Broncs (5-6). The Wildcats not only won the match, but swept Rider of all the matches.
