Villanova Looks to Battle UConn for No. 3 Seed in BIG EAST Tourney
The Villanova women's lacrosse team (9-6, 4-2 BIG EAST) is set to wrap up the 2015 regular season as the Wildcats are set to have the best season in program history. After Saturday's match, Nova could be either the No. 3 or the No. 4 seed depending on the outcome against the UConn Huskies ( 9-6, 4-2 BIG EAST). Head Coach Julie Young and her squad have already officially punched their postseason ticket while the Huskies will be fighting to keep their postseason dreams alive.
Women's Tennis Beats Creighton in Backdraw in Season Finale
In the back-draw of the BIG EAST Tournament the Villanova Wildcats played their last match of the season versus the Creighton Bluejays in Indianapolis, Ind. and won by a score of 4-3. With that, the Villanova women's tennis team has concluded its 2015 spring season.
Softball Ready for DePaul This Weekend
The Villanova Wildcats (22-24, 8-7 BIG EAST) are ready to take on conference rival, the DePaul Blue Demons (17-21, 8-3 BIG EAST) this weekend for possibly their most important series of the year. Saturday will consist of a doubleheader beginning at 10 a.m. and then the third game will start at 11 a.m. on Sunday morning. Saturday will be Alumni Day with Sunday being Senior Day.
MAAC Announces Year-End Awards
Junior Naomi Ng was named to the All-MAAC First-Team and six Villanova water polo student-athletes have been honored for their academic achievements and were named to the 2014-15 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference All-Academic team, as announced by the conference on Friday evening.
Comeback Falls Short as Baseball Falls to St. John's, 7-3
The Villanova baseball team (15-21, 3-4 BIG EAST) dropped game one of a three-game series at Jack Kaiser Stadium to the St. John's Red Storm (23-13, 7-2 BIG EAST) by a final of 7-3 on Friday afternoon. The Wildcats will be back in Queens, N.Y. at 1 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday.
Men's Tennis Competes in BIG EAST Tournament
As the No. 8 seed the Villanova Wildcats played No. 1 seed St. John's in the BIG EAST Tournament on Friday morning and were defeated by a score of 4-0. The team will go on to play Butler tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. in the back-draw match and St. John's will go on to play Xavier tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. in the next round of the tournament.
Wildcats Cap Season with Annual Banquet
The Villanova Wildcats took one final look back on Thursday night at a record setting 33-3 season that included the BIG EAST regular season and tournament titles.
Kathleen McPhillips Wins College Section of Pole Vault at Penn Relays
Senior Kathleen McPhillips (Carlisle, Pa.) won the College section of the pole vault on Thursday morning at the Penn Relays and in the process registered the top outdoor performance of her collegiate career. McPhillips cleared the bar at a height of 3.90 meters and came in first out of 15 competitors in her section.
