Wildcats Tally Three First Place Finishes on Second Day at Princeton Open
Freshman sprinter Melissa June (Massapequa, N.Y.) tied for first place in a field of 18 competitors in the 100 meters and also anchored Villanova to a victory in the 4x100 meter relay during competition at the Princeton Open on Saturday afternoon. The two-day meet wrapped up at Weaver Stadium with the Wildcats recording a total of three first-place finishes.

Competition wrapped up at the Princeton Open on Saturday afternoon, where Villanova had eight athletes competing in a total of seven different events. The meet was the final competition for the Wildcats before they host the BIG EAST Championships next weekend.
Wildcats Take on Red Storm in Game One
In the first game of a doubleheader in their weekend conference series against the St. John's Red Storm, the Villanova Wildcats were defeated by a score of 6-1. Sierra McConnell drove in the only Wildcat run of the day. The Wildcats record drops to 23-28, 8-11 BIG EAST while the Red Storm improve to 25-16, 15-1 BIG EAST.
Early Missed Opportunities Cost Wildcats in 6-3 Loss to Butler
Five outs made on the bases in the first six innings proved to be costly and a late comeback bid fell short as Villanova (18-23, 4-6 BIG EAST) dropped the opening game of a three-game series, 6-3, to Butler (17-26, 4-6 BIG EAST) at Bulldog Park on Friday afternoon. After having the potential tying run thrown out at the plate in a one-run game in the top of the sixth, the Wildcats allowed four runs in the bottom of the inning and never fully recovered.
Wildcats Will Face St. John's in Final Regular Season Series
In their final weekend conference series of the regular season, the Villanova Wildcats (23-27, 8-10 BIG EAST) will travel to Queens, N.Y. to face the St. John's Red Storm (24-16, 14-1 BIG EAST). It will be a three-game series with a doubleheader beginning at 12 p.m. on Saturday and the final game will begin at 12 p.m. on Sunday.

Junior first baseman Max Beermann (Tampa, Fla.) led off the bottom of the sixth inning with a go-ahead home run and sophomore second baseman Todd Czinege (Overland Park, Kan.) capped an eighth inning surge with a two-run triple as Villanova (18-22) downed Rutgers (15-28-1) by a final score of 7-2 in a matchup of former BIG EAST rivals at the Villanova Ballpark at Plymouth on Wednesday afternoon.
