Water Polo Defeats No. 14 Ranked Wagner
In the second weekend loaded with conference matchups in as many weeks the Wildcats played two games on Saturday. They were beaten in the first game by Iona 14-9. In the second game the `Cats matched up against the No. 14 ranked Wagner Seahawks and defeated them by a score of 9-8. It marks the first time this season that Villanova has defeated a nationally ranked team in water polo.
Josh Lampron Wins 1500 Meters at Danny Curran Invitational
In frigid conditions at the Danny Curran Invitational on Saturday afternoon, Villanova had athletes competing in a total of five events at Leslie C. Quick, Jr. Stadium. Two days of competition at the local meet concluded with Saturday's events, including three running events and two field events that the Wildcats entered.
Wildcats Wrap Up Competition at Danny Curran Invitational
The second day of competition at the Danny Curran Invitational wrapped up in frigid conditions on Saturday afternoon, where Villanova had athletes competing in four different events. Senior Kathleen McPhillips (Carlisle, Pa.) led a group of six Wildcats in the pole vault with a first place finish. Villanova also had entries in the hammer, javelin and 100 meter hurdles.
Villanova Crew Heads West for 42nd San Diego Crew Classic
The Villanova women's rowing team will compete on both coasts this weekend as the women's lightweight varsity eight will compete in the San Diego Crew Classic while the novice eight and four, alongside the varsity four, will compete at the Murphy Cup hosted by Temple University.
Golf Hosts Wildcat Invitational in Malvern, PA on Monday, Tuesday
The Villanova men's golf team will host the fifth-annual Wildcat Invitational on Monday, March 30 and Tuesday, March 31 in a two-round, 36-hole tournament at White Manor Country Club in Malvern, Pa. A total of 16 teams will be competing in the Invitational.
Harris Pitches Wildcats Past Hofstra, 3-1, in Series Opener
Senior starting pitcher Josh Harris (Streamwood, Ill.) pitched into the ninth inning, sophomore second baseman Todd Czinege (Overland Park, Kan.) had three hits and Villanova (8-12) opened a three-game series with a 3-1 win over Hofstra (7-12) at the Villanova Ballpark at Plymouth on Friday afternoon. Four different players had multi-hit games for the Wildcats and senior closer Chris Haggarty (Valley Cottage, N.Y.) worked out of an inherited bases-loaded jam in the ninth inning to finish off the win.
Villanova Advances to WNIT Quarterfinals with Win Over St. John's
The Villanova Wildcats advanced to the quarterfinal round of the WNIT with a 63-55 home win over the St. John's Red Storm in women's basketball action on Thursday, March 26. With the victory, the Wildcats improve to 22-13 on the season, while the Red Storm finishes the season at 23-11.
Mucci Becomes All-Time Assist Leader with 85 in Win versus Lafayette
The Villanova women's lacrosse team kept their perfect streak at home alive in their 13-11 victory over the Lafayette Leopards (2-9). The Wildcats improved to 6-5, their first time over .500 in 2015, as they rounded out the end of their non-conference schedule on Wednesday night.
