Villanova was led by Christian Cuccinello who tied his career high with four goals while adding two assists for a team high six points on the day. Jake Froccaro and Danny Seibel added four points each while Devin McNamara had three of his own. The four Wildcats combined for nine goals and seven assists.

Throughout their four-year careers, this group of seniors has tallied three 20-win seasons, won 80 games, participated in three WNIT Tournaments, captured three Big Five titles and three in-season tournament championships.

Senior catcher John Fabriziani (Doylestown, Pa.) had two RBIs on the day during his first two at bats on the season, despite Villanova’s (0-2) 12-7 loss to Norfolk State (2-0) at Marty M. Miller Field on Saturday afternoon. Senior right fielder Donovan May (Newark, Del.), sophomore second baseman David Rodgers (West Chester, Pa.) and junior center fielder David Gulati (Collegeville, Pa.) each had two hits apiece.
Big First Inning Lifts Villanova To Win Over Oakland
The Villanova softball team used a six-run first inning to hand the Oakland Golden Grizzlies their first loss of the season on Saturday afternoon by a score of 8-4. Both teams are now 2-1 to begin the year.
Quinnipiac Edges Villanova, 2-1
The Villanova softball team fell to the Quinnipiac Bobcats on Saturday evening, 2-1. The Wildcats had led most of the game, but the Bobcats were able to score two runs in the bottom of the fifth to take a 2-1 advantage. With the loss, Villanova drops to 2-2 on the year.
Massimino a Finalist for Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame
Villaonva coaching legend Rollie Massimino, who lead the Wildcats to 357 victories and the 1985 NCAA national title, is a finalist for the 2017 class of inductees to the Naismith Hall of Fame.
